Job Description

Voyageur Medical Transport is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Patient Transport Aides. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive, full training to ensure you are fully equipped for success. As a Patient Transport Aide, you will be responsible for the safe and respectful non-emergency transport of patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their journey. This vital role supports the healthcare system by facilitating timely and appropriate patient movement.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and compassionately transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, or walking assistance between various healthcare facilities and residences.
- Operate and maintain transport vehicles, including pre-trip inspections and ensuring vehicles are clean and stocked with necessary equipment.
- Provide basic patient comfort and support during transport, including communication and reassurance.
- Accurately complete all necessary documentation related to patient transport, including patient logs and incident reports.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including infection control and patient confidentiality.
- Assist with loading and unloading patients and equipment safely.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with dispatch, healthcare staff, and colleagues.
- Maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment regularly (up to 200 lbs with assistance).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Willingness to learn and commit to comprehensive training.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR certification (will be provided if not current).
- Previous experience in a customer service or care-giving role.
- Familiarity with Mississauga and surrounding areas.
