Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cruise Ship Director for a pivotal land-based role in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a world-leading cruise company and contribute to the operational excellence and guest satisfaction across our fleet from a shore-side perspective. This role focuses on strategic oversight, program development, and operational support for our onboard Cruise Directors and their teams, ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and refine entertainment, guest services, and activity programs for various ship classes, ensuring alignment with brand standards and guest expectations.
- Provide comprehensive support, guidance, and training to onboard Cruise Directors and their teams, including best practices, performance management, and issue resolution.
- Monitor guest satisfaction metrics and feedback, identifying areas for improvement and developing action plans to enhance the guest experience.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of onboard programs with overall brand messaging and business objectives.
- Manage budgets and resource allocation for entertainment and guest experience departments across the fleet, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct regular reviews of onboard procedures and policies, recommending updates to ensure compliance, safety, and operational effectiveness.
- Lead special projects related to new ship launches, itinerary changes, or thematic cruise events, providing expert guidance from a guest experience perspective.
- Act as a liaison between corporate departments and shipboard management for all guest-facing operational matters.
- Mentor and develop high-potential talent within the entertainment and guest services teams.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership role within the cruise, hospitality, or entertainment industry, preferably in a shore-side capacity or as an onboard Cruise Director.
- Proven track record of managing large teams and complex operational programs.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with operational management software.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of international travel regulations and maritime operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with global brand standards and multi-cultural guest experiences.
- Project management certification or proven experience managing large-scale projects.
- Fluency in additional languages beyond English.
