Job Description
Are you a high-energy individual with a passion for bringing joy and excitement to people of all ages? The Sechelt Aquatic Centre & Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Sports Mascot Performer to embody our beloved mascot! This part-time role is perfect for someone who loves to interact with crowds, entertain, and be the life of the party at various community events, sports games, and promotions. You will be responsible for creating memorable experiences and boosting community spirit through playful interactions and engaging performances. This is an excellent opportunity to be a visible and fun ambassador for our centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Portray the mascot character with enthusiasm, energy, and appropriate behavior at all times.
- Interact with event attendees, especially children, in a friendly and engaging manner.
- Participate in promotional activities, community events, and local sports games as required.
- Maintain the mascot costume, ensuring it is clean, presentable, and in good condition.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and character boundaries during all performances.
- Work closely with event organizers and staff to coordinate appearances and activities.
Required Skills
- High energy and enthusiasm with a positive attitude.
- Excellent non-verbal communication and crowd interaction skills.
- Ability to perform in a costume for extended periods, including standing, dancing, and light physical activity.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a mascot or in performance arts is a plus.
- Experience working with children and diverse community groups.
- Familiarity with local sports teams and community events in Sechelt and the Sunshine Coast.
- Ability to improvise and adapt to various performance environments.
