Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Medical Coder & Biller to join our growing healthcare administration team. This is a crucial role responsible for accurately translating medical documentation into codes for billing and managing the entire billing cycle from claim submission to payment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the financial health of our clients and the smooth operation of our medical services. This position offers the flexibility of a 100% remote work model, allowing you to contribute from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to medical diagnoses and procedures based on documentation.
  • Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve denials, and process appeals.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and clarification.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and payer requirements.
  • Assist patients with billing inquiries and payment arrangements.
  • Generate and review aging reports to manage accounts receivable.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in medical coding and billing (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
  • Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and payer policies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification.
  • Associate's degree in Medical Billing & Coding, Health Information Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with a variety of medical specialties.
  • Familiarity with UK healthcare system billing practices (NHS and private).
