Job Description

Join XPO Logistics as an Apprentice Truck Driver and launch your career in the essential world of local freight transportation. This entry-level position is designed for individuals eager to learn the fundamentals of commercial truck driving, safety regulations, and efficient local delivery operations. As a 1st Year Trainee, you will receive comprehensive hands-on training and mentorship, working towards obtaining your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) while contributing to our vital local delivery network. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth flow of goods within the Irvine area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all phases of the apprentice training program, including classroom instruction and on-the-road training.
  • Operate company vehicles under direct supervision, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Learn and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist experienced drivers with local deliveries, pickups, and accurate documentation.
  • Properly secure freight according to safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery records.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, and pull freight as required.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to obtaining a Class A or B CDL.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a physically demanding role or warehouse environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
