Job Description
Join PwC as a Sustainability Reporting & Carbon Accounting Intern in our dynamic Birmingham office. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting. You will support our consulting teams in advising clients across various industries on their sustainability journeys, focusing specifically on carbon accounting, data analysis, and the preparation of sustainability reports in line with leading frameworks. This role is ideal for highly motivated individuals with a passion for sustainability and a desire to contribute to a greener future. You will develop critical skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment, working alongside experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, validating, and analyzing environmental data, particularly greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data, from clients.
- Support the preparation of sustainability reports aligned with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and CSRD.
- Contribute to carbon footprint assessments and climate-related risk and opportunity analysis.
- Conduct research on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Prepare presentations, memos, and other client-facing materials.
- Participate in client meetings and workshops, supporting senior consultants.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate sustainability considerations into broader consulting projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant sustainability reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability, climate change, and corporate social responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and strong problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of carbon accounting principles (e.g., GHG Protocol).
- Familiarity with major sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Previous internship or project experience related to sustainability or environmental management.
