Job Description
Savills is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Property Maintenance Assistant (Handyman/Mate) to join our growing property management team in Southampton. This is an entry-level opportunity perfect for individuals looking to start a career in property maintenance and gain valuable hands-on experience. You will work alongside experienced technicians, assisting with a variety of tasks to ensure our managed properties are well-maintained and our tenants are satisfied. This role requires a proactive approach, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to high standards of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled technicians with routine maintenance and repair tasks across various properties.
- Perform basic handyman duties such as minor plastering, painting, carpentry, and plumbing.
- Conduct regular property inspections to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Support in the installation and repair of fixtures and fittings.
- Help maintain grounds and external areas, including basic gardening or tidying.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently, adhering to company standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and assist with emergency repairs as needed.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of general property maintenance tasks.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Valid UK driving license preferred (or willingness to obtain one).
