Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Neonatal Assistant to join our vibrant Neonatal Unit. In this vital role, you will work under the supervision of qualified nursing staff to provide essential care and support to premature and unwell newborns, as well as their families. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a life-changing environment and develop invaluable skills in neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff with the daily care of neonates, including feeding, changing, and comfort measures.
  • Monitor and record observations, escalating any concerns to the registered nurse.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment within the Neonatal Unit.
  • Support parents and families, offering comfort and guidance under supervision.
  • Assist with the preparation and stocking of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
  • Transport infants safely within the hospital premises as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly with babies or children.
  • Knowledge of basic life support techniques.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures for children.
