Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Museum Curator / Director to lead our international sponsorship initiatives. This pivotal role will drive the strategic development and delivery of significant philanthropic support from international partners, ensuring the long-term sustainability and ambitious growth of Royal Museums Greenwich. You will be instrumental in shaping our global presence, securing vital funding for exhibitions, conservation, research, and educational programs, and cultivating high-level relationships with sponsors, donors, and cultural institutions worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive international sponsorship strategy aligned with the museum's strategic goals.
  • Identify, research, and cultivate potential international sponsors, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Lead the development of compelling proposals and presentations for major international sponsorship opportunities.
  • Negotiate and secure significant sponsorship agreements, ensuring mutual benefit and compliance with museum policies.
  • Oversee the stewardship of international sponsors, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring timely reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with curatorial, exhibition, marketing, and development teams to identify funding priorities.
  • Represent Royal Museums Greenwich at international conferences, cultural events, and networking functions.
  • Monitor global philanthropic trends and best practices in cultural fundraising.
  • Manage a small team dedicated to international outreach and sponsorship activities.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and overall leadership of the museum's development efforts.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in museum curatorship, cultural management, or international fundraising.
  • Proven track record of securing significant international sponsorships or philanthropic gifts.
  • Strong understanding of museum operations, exhibition development, and conservation principles.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-level relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent project management abilities.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Museum Studies, Art History, Archaeology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a UNESCO World Heritage Site or a major national cultural institution.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and fundraising software.
  • Established network within international philanthropic or cultural circles.
