Job Description

Chapel Gallery, Bracebridge is seeking a passionate and proactive Arts Administration Intern to support our daily operations and special projects. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual looking to gain hands-on experience in museum and gallery management, exhibition coordination, marketing, and visitor services. The intern will work closely with our small, dedicated team, contributing to the cultural vitality of our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and installation of exhibitions, including art handling and display preparation.
  • Support marketing and promotional activities, including social media content creation, newsletter drafting, and website updates.
  • Contribute to the organization of public programs, workshops, and special events.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, and managing correspondence.
  • Engage with gallery visitors, providing information about current exhibitions and artists.
  • Assist with inventory management and record-keeping for artwork and merchandise.
  • Research potential funding opportunities and assist with grant application preparation.
  • Learn about and contribute to collection management practices specific to a gallery setting.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in the arts, cultural sector, or museum/gallery operations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms for professional use.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Arts Administration, Museum Studies, Art History, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Familiarity with database management systems.
  • Prior volunteer or work experience in a gallery, museum, or cultural organization.
