Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Dairy Farm Worker to join one of our key partner farms located in Mickleover, Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the daily operations of a modern dairy farm, working closely with a passionate team to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and milk production. You will be involved in various aspects of farm work, gaining valuable experience in a vital industry. The role requires physical fitness, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in dairy farming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with milking cows, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Feed and care for livestock, including calves, heifers, and milking cows.
  • Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or injury to the farm manager.
  • Clean and maintain farm buildings, equipment, and milking parlours.
  • Operate farm machinery, such as tractors and loaders, as required (training provided if necessary).
  • Participate in pasture management and general farm duties.
  • Support calving activities and ensure the welfare of new-born calves.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health, feeding, and milking data.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong physical fitness and stamina for demanding farm work.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of animal welfare principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new farming techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on a dairy or livestock farm (1 year+).
  • Experience with milking systems and parlour operations.
  • Basic knowledge of farm machinery operation and maintenance.
  • Qualifications in agriculture or animal husbandry.
