Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Dairy Farm Worker to join one of our key partner farms located in Mickleover, Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the daily operations of a modern dairy farm, working closely with a passionate team to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and milk production. You will be involved in various aspects of farm work, gaining valuable experience in a vital industry. The role requires physical fitness, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in dairy farming.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with milking cows, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Feed and care for livestock, including calves, heifers, and milking cows.
- Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or injury to the farm manager.
- Clean and maintain farm buildings, equipment, and milking parlours.
- Operate farm machinery, such as tractors and loaders, as required (training provided if necessary).
- Participate in pasture management and general farm duties.
- Support calving activities and ensure the welfare of new-born calves.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, feeding, and milking data.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina for demanding farm work.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of animal welfare principles.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new farming techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a dairy or livestock farm (1 year+).
- Experience with milking systems and parlour operations.
- Basic knowledge of farm machinery operation and maintenance.
- Qualifications in agriculture or animal husbandry.
