Job Description
Are you passionate about cars and eager to kickstart a career in the automotive body repair industry? Halfords Autocentres is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Car Paint Prep Trainees. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity to learn vital body shop skills from experienced professionals. No prior experience is required – just a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow. You will be instrumental in preparing vehicles for the paint process, ensuring a flawless finish every time. We offer comprehensive on-the-job training and support to help you develop into a skilled technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior paint technicians in preparing vehicles for painting.
- Perform sanding, masking, and surface preparation tasks on various vehicle panels.
- Clean and degrease vehicle surfaces thoroughly to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Mix and prepare paint materials under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and company procedures.
- Learn and apply new techniques and skills as directed by trainers.
- Inspect prepared surfaces for imperfections and address them prior to painting.

- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
- Good manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Preferred Qualifications

- Basic understanding of tools and workshop environments.
- Previous experience in a hands-on role (e.g., DIY, craft, general labour) is a plus but not essential.
