Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and knowledgeable Architecture Style Classifier to join our innovative AI Design Support team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in teaching our AI systems to recognize, categorize, and understand various architectural styles, periods, and nuances. Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of next-generation AI-powered design tools that assist architects and designers globally. This hybrid role combines the flexibility of remote work with collaborative office days at our Macclesfield location, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately classify and annotate architectural designs, images, and data according to their specific style, period, and unique characteristics.
  • Develop and refine comprehensive classification taxonomies for various architectural styles, ensuring consistency and precision.
  • Collaborate closely with AI engineers and data scientists to train, test, and improve machine learning models for architectural style recognition.
  • Conduct thorough research on architectural history, theory, and contemporary trends to inform classification efforts.
  • Provide expert insights and feedback on AI model performance, identifying areas for enhancement and correction.
  • Contribute to the creation of detailed documentation and guidelines for architectural style classification.
  • Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions to stay abreast of project goals and advancements.

Required Skills

  • Deep knowledge of architectural history, theory, and a wide range of architectural styles (e.g., Classical, Gothic, Modern, Brutalist, Postmodern).
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail for precise data classification.
  • Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings, photographs, and digital models.
  • Strong understanding of visual characteristics that define different architectural periods and movements.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural History, Art History, or a related field.
  • Experience with data annotation tools or platforms, particularly in visual data classification.
  • Familiarity with basic concepts of artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computer vision.
  • Prior experience working with large datasets or digital archives of architectural content.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) is a plus.
