Job Description
Are you passionate about creating fun and enriching experiences for children after school? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated After School Club Playworker to join our team in Stockport. In this vital role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging play activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children aged 4-11 years. You will foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, promoting independence, creativity, and social development through play. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and lead a diverse range of stimulating and age-appropriate play activities for children aged 4-11 years.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the club at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and fun atmosphere where children feel comfortable and encouraged to participate.
- Supervise children during free play, structured activities, and snack times, maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
- Promote positive behaviour and social skills among children, resolving conflicts constructively.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's day and any relevant observations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the club premises, equipment, and resources.
- Assist with snack preparation and serving, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the club by sharing ideas and feedback.
Required Skills
- Experience working with children aged 4-11 years in a childcare or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and the importance of play.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to plan and lead engaging activities suitable for various age groups.
- A patient, caring, and enthusiastic demeanour.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, or Early Years Education.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of OFSTED requirements for out-of-school care.
