Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Privacy Officer (DPO) to join our dynamic team in Belfast. This critical role is responsible for overseeing our data protection strategy and its implementation to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations, including GDPR and CCPA. The successful candidate will act as a key advisor on all data privacy matters, managing risks, and fostering a culture of privacy across the organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and data subjects.
  • Monitor internal compliance with data protection laws and policies, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Advise on and conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs), privacy complaints, and data breaches.
  • Provide expert advice on data privacy implications of business processes, products, and services.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, and business teams to embed privacy-by-design principles.
  • Stay abreast of changes in data protection laws and best practices, ensuring ongoing organizational compliance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data privacy, compliance, or a related legal field.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with GDPR, CCPA, and other global data protection regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct DPIAs and manage data breach incidents.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, multicultural team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or other relevant data privacy certifications.
  • Experience working in a global organization or professional services firm.
  • A legal background or degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with information security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001).
