Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Weekend Bindery Aide to join our production team. This part-time role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our bindery department during weekend shifts. The ideal candidate will assist in various stages of the printing and binding process, including machine operation, stacking, packing, and quality control. This is a stable position within the publishing sector, offering consistent weekend hours and an opportunity to contribute to a vital part of our news and commercial printing operations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor bindery equipment under supervision, including folders, trimmers, and collators.
- Load paper and other materials onto machines and remove finished products.
- Stack, jog, and pack printed materials according to specifications.
- Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure adherence to standards.
- Assist with general clean-up and maintenance of the bindery area.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the bindery supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet production deadlines.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a production, warehouse, or bindery setting (3-6 months preferred).
- Familiarity with operating basic machinery.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
