Job Description
Are you a passionate music aficionado with a love for vinyl? The Modern Bop is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Vinyl Record Shop Assistant to join our team. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who lives and breathes music, enjoys connecting with people, and thrives in a dynamic retail environment. You’ll be the face of our shop, helping customers explore our extensive collection and ensuring every visit is a memorable one. Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with a friendly and knowledgeable approach, helping them find records based on their preferences.
- Process sales transactions accurately using our point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash and card payments.
- Organize, price, and shelve new and used vinyl records, ensuring the shop floor is tidy and appealing.
- Maintain a clean and inviting store environment, including dusting, tidying, and general upkeep.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving new stock and preparing items for display.
- Share product knowledge and recommendations with customers, engaging in meaningful conversations about music.
- Operate the store's sound system, curating appropriate in-store playlists to enhance the customer experience.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the shop.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated passion and knowledge of various music genres and artists, particularly in the realm of vinyl records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine desire to assist customers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with learning a new POS system.
- Reliable and punctual with a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail or customer service experience, ideally in a music-related or specialty store.
- Familiarity with record player technology and vinyl care.
- Experience with social media management or community engagement.
- Ability to lift and move boxes of records (up to 25 lbs).
