Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plastic Surgeon to join our dedicated team at Spire Hartswood Hospital, located in the vibrant community of Sketty, Swansea. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to practice advanced plastic and reconstructive surgery within a state-of-the-art facility, supported by a compassionate multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert surgical care, consultation, and follow-up for patients requiring a variety of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. You will contribute to our reputation for clinical excellence and patient satisfaction, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics and professional conduct. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient consultations and assessments to determine surgical suitability and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Perform a wide range of plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures, including cosmetic enhancements, post-traumatic reconstruction, and corrective surgeries.
- Ensure meticulous pre-operative planning, intra-operative execution, and post-operative care, adhering to best practices and safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with anaesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuous professional development, clinical audits, and contribute to the hospital's commitment to research and innovation.
- Provide clear and empathetic communication with patients and their families regarding surgical options, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
- Mentor junior medical staff and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Required Skills
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent qualification in Plastic Surgery.
- Proven experience in a broad range of plastic and reconstructive surgical techniques.
- Excellent surgical dexterity and precision.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient safety and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-specialty interest or fellowship training in a specific area of plastic surgery (e.g., hand surgery, microsurgery, aesthetic surgery).
- Experience in a private healthcare setting.
- Active participation in research or publications in plastic surgery journals.
- Leadership experience within a surgical team.
- Teaching or training experience.
