Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team. In this pivotal role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy interventions for patients with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs. Your expertise will be crucial in helping patients regain independence, manage their conditions, and enhance their quality of life. This on-site position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive hospital environment, contributing directly to patient recovery and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, identifying patient strengths, needs, and goals.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and equipment.
- Facilitate rehabilitation sessions, focusing on activities of daily living, mobility, and functional independence.
- Provide expert advice and training to patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals on adaptive equipment, techniques, and home modifications.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to holistic patient care and discharge planning.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise junior staff, therapy assistants, and students as required.
Required Skills
- BSc or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Demonstrable experience in an acute hospital or rehabilitation setting
- Excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient-centred approach
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in a specialist area of occupational therapy (e.g., neurorehabilitation, hand therapy)
- Experience in supervising staff or students
- Participation in relevant professional development courses
- Familiarity with NHS policies and procedures
