Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Medical Center Porter to join our dedicated team at a prestigious boutique clinic in Great Yarmouth. This vital role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and supplies within the clinic, contributing significantly to the overall patient experience and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be a proactive, empathetic individual with a strong commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, often using wheelchairs, trolleys, or beds, between reception, consultation rooms, treatment areas, and discharge points.
- Assist clinical staff with moving and positioning patients as required.
- Collect and deliver medical records, samples, specimens, and general supplies throughout the clinic.
- Manage and transport medical equipment, ensuring it is handled with care and delivered to the correct location.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of transport equipment and designated areas.
- Provide compassionate and respectful assistance to patients, addressing their needs and concerns with professionalism.
- Respond promptly to requests from medical staff and follow specific instructions.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and clinic protocols.
- Support the wider clinic team in maintaining a high standard of patient care and operational efficiency.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in a portering or patient transport role, ideally within a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the role (e.g., lifting, pushing, prolonged standing).
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with an eye for detail.
- A strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection in a healthcare environment.
- Basic IT literacy for communicating and logging tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience in a private healthcare or boutique clinic environment.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques and patient moving equipment.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
