Job Description

Are you eager to learn a variety of trades and kick-start your career in property maintenance and construction? Kier Group is looking for a motivated and hands-on Handyman Helper to join our dynamic team in Southampton. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn new skills across various building and maintenance tasks. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople, gaining practical knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general repairs. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople with various tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs.
  • Prepare work areas by moving furniture, covering surfaces, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Transport tools and materials to and from job sites.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Perform basic painting, patching, and cleaning duties.
  • Follow instructions accurately and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Learn and adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Provide support for minor repairs and maintenance as directed.

  • Basic understanding of safety procedures.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Valid UK driving license.
