Job Description

Are you passionate about public service and eager to make a difference in a tight-knit community? The Village of Pemberton is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Local Council Customer Service Advisor to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be the first point of contact for residents, businesses, and visitors, providing essential information and support regarding municipal services, bylaws, and community initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with the public, ensuring their needs are met with efficiency and a friendly approach. Best of all, this role offers a consistent Monday to Friday schedule, meaning no weekend work! Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for public inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on municipal services, bylaws, permits, and community programs.
  • Assist residents with applications, forms, and navigating council processes.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues effectively and with empathy, escalating complex matters to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all Village services, policies, and local events.
  • Process payments and manage general administrative tasks as required.
  • Contribute to a positive public image for the Village of Pemberton through professional and courteous interactions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in public administration, business, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a municipal or government setting.
  • Knowledge of local government operations and community services in British Columbia.
  • Familiarity with financial processing systems.
