Job Description
Are you a passionate aspiring 3D Modeller looking to kickstart your career in the video game industry? Wales Interactive is seeking a highly motivated Junior 3D Modeller to join our dynamic art team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone with a foundational understanding of 3D modeling principles and a burning desire to learn and grow. You will work closely with senior artists and designers to bring game environments, characters, and props to life, ensuring they meet both technical specifications and artistic vision. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real game projects and receive mentorship from experienced industry professionals in a supportive studio environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation of high-quality 3D models for characters, environments, and props based on concept art and design specifications.
- Collaborate with senior artists, animators, and game designers to integrate 3D assets into game engines.
- Ensure all models adhere to project-specific technical requirements, including polygon count, UV mapping, and texturing guidelines.
- Participate in regular art reviews, openly accepting and incorporating feedback to refine models.
- Help maintain and organize the project's 3D asset library.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in 3D modeling and game art.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max).
- Basic understanding of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) texturing workflows.
- A portfolio demonstrating fundamental 3D modeling skills, including topology and UV mapping (student projects are welcome).
- Strong artistic eye and attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and adapt to different art styles.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Game Art, 3D Animation, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Basic knowledge of sculpting software (e.g., ZBrush) or texturing software (e.g., Substance Painter, Substance Designer).
- Understanding of general game development pipelines and asset optimization.
