Job Description
We are seeking adaptable and dedicated individuals to join our Bank Porter team. As a Bank Porter, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our hospitals, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies. This flexible role offers competitive hourly rates and the opportunity to work shifts that suit your schedule, providing essential support to our clinical teams and contributing to a positive patient experience. You will need to be physically fit, reliable, and possess excellent communication skills to thrive in this dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and comfortably between wards, departments, and clinic areas.
- Move medical equipment, beds, furniture, and supplies throughout the hospital.
- Collect and deliver specimens, urgent notes, and other vital items.
- Assist with the safe disposal of waste, including clinical and general waste.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, ensuring trolleys and equipment are stored appropriately.
- Respond promptly to requests for portering services from various departments.
- Provide support during emergencies, including fire evacuation procedures.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift and move objects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a portering or customer service role.
- Knowledge of hospital environments and procedures.
- Full UK driving license (for potential driving duties).
- First Aid certification.
