Job Description
As a Terminal Loading Master at our Pearland facility, you will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the safe and efficient loading and unloading operations of various petroleum and chemical products. This high-responsibility position requires a keen eye for detail, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for managing loading schedules, supervising operational teams, ensuring adherence to environmental and safety protocols, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role is central to our logistics chain, ensuring the timely and secure movement of vital energy products.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of terminal loading and unloading operations for trucks, railcars, and potentially marine vessels.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and government compliance standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Manage daily loading schedules, optimize product flow, and troubleshoot operational issues to minimize delays and maximize efficiency.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of loading equipment, areas, and procedures.
- Train, mentor, and lead a team of loading operators, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, reconcile product movements, and prepare detailed operational reports.
- Act as a first responder for incidents and emergencies, initiating appropriate protocols and coordinating with relevant authorities.
- Collaborate with logistics, commercial, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless terminal operations.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on loading equipment as required, or coordinate with maintenance staff for larger issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in terminal operations, bulk liquid handling, or a related industrial logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, including HAZMAT, confined space entry, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of clear and concise reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams), and operational manuals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, TWIC Card).
- Experience with specific terminal automation systems (e.g., TOPTECH, TAS).
- Knowledge of DOT and other transportation regulations for hazardous materials.
