Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Gastroenterology Doctor to join our dynamic team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to provide expert gastroenterological care within our diverse patient population in North Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, contributing to both inpatient and outpatient services. Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical care in gastroenterology, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients.
- Perform a full range of endoscopic procedures (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP), ensuring patient safety and effective outcomes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to formulate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Contribute to the on-call rota for gastroenterology and general medicine, as required.
- Supervise and teach junior medical staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Engage in continuous professional development, clinical audit, and research activities to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
Required Skills
- Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent).
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Specialist registration in Gastroenterology with the GMC (or within 6 months of obtaining CCT/CESR).
- Demonstrable experience in managing a broad range of gastroenterological conditions.
- Proven competence in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous quality improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Gastroenterology.
- Experience in sub-specialty areas such as inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, or advanced endoscopy.
- Evidence of leadership skills and involvement in service development.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentation at national/international conferences.
