Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Order Picker Forklift Driver to join our dynamic team in Laredo, Texas. This combined skilled role involves operating various types of forklifts, primarily order pickers, to accurately and efficiently move, stack, and retrieve products within our warehouse. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, performing quality checks, and contributing to a safe and productive work environment. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate order picker forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move products and materials.
- Accurately pick, pack, and stage orders according to specific instructions and established procedures.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Perform daily safety checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Assist with inventory control tasks, including cycle counts, location audits, and identifying discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience operating order picker forklifts in a warehouse or distribution center setting.
- Valid forklift certification for order pickers (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Proficiency in basic warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanning devices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks required in a warehouse environment (bending, stooping, standing for long periods).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order picking and inventory handling.
- Excellent understanding and adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
- Reliable transportation and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other types of forklifts (reach truck, sit-down) is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced logistics or third-party logistics (3PL) environment.
- Familiarity with cross-docking operations.
