Job Description

Are you keen to kickstart a career in furniture installation? DFS is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Furniture Fitter (Mate) to join our growing team in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with little to no experience to learn from the best in the business. You will work alongside a seasoned professional, travelling to customer homes to deliver and expertly assemble a wide range of furniture. This role offers excellent on-the-job training, weekly pay, and a clear path for career progression within a leading UK retailer. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead Furniture Fitter with the safe delivery and meticulous assembly of DFS furniture in customer homes.
  • Handle furniture with care to prevent damage during transit and installation.
  • Learn and apply best practices for furniture assembly, installation techniques, and tool usage.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace at customer premises.
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and operational guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with the lead fitter and dispatch team.

Required Skills

  • Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy furniture.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and a practical, hands-on approach.
  • A genuine eagerness and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a two-person team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic experience with hand tools (e.g., from DIY projects, previous jobs).
  • A foundational understanding of furniture assembly or construction.
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Full UK driving license (while not driving the main van, it is beneficial for future progression).
