Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Multiplayer Network Tester with a strong focus on server stability to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of our online multiplayer games. You will identify, analyze, and report network-related issues, collaborate with engineering teams, and contribute to the overall quality and performance of our games’ server infrastructure. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive test plans to identify network connectivity, latency, and server stability issues in multiplayer environments.
- Monitor server performance, analyze log files, and utilize network diagnostic tools to pinpoint potential bottlenecks or failures.
- Reproduce, document, and track network-related bugs with clear, concise, and actionable reports.
- Collaborate closely with network engineers and game developers to understand technical requirements and provide valuable feedback.
- Develop and maintain test cases for various network conditions and server loads.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint reviews, providing status updates and insights.
- Stay informed about industry best practices in network testing and game development.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or testing, with a focus on online multiplayer games or network-intensive applications.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and client-server architecture.
- Proficiency with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Experience with network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, Fiddler).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and team collaboration.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance testing tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of game development pipelines and engines (e.g., Unreal Engine).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for test automation.
