Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join our dynamic faculty at Jordanhill School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging Computer Science lessons across various key stages, fostering a passion for technology, computational thinking, and digital literacy among our pupils. This role requires a commitment to innovative teaching practices, a deep understanding of the Computer Science curriculum, and the ability to inspire students of all abilities to achieve their full potential in this rapidly evolving field.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons to students from S1 to S6 (ages 11-18), aligning with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
- Develop and implement engaging schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess, monitor, record, and report on the progress of students, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's digital strategy and promote the integration of technology across the curriculum.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and extra-curricular activities related to Computer Science and STEM.
- Maintain a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the overall success of the school.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (GTCS registration preferred or eligibility to register)
- Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field
- Proven experience teaching Computer Science at secondary school level
- Excellent knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and computational concepts
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to create an engaging learning environment
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a variety of educational technologies and platforms
- Familiarity with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence
- Ability to lead or contribute to extra-curricular clubs (e.g., coding club, robotics)
- Postgraduate Qualification in Education or Computer Science
