Job Description

Are you an early bird with a keen sense of smell and a passion for coffee? We’re looking for a dedicated Coffee Roastery Production Assistant to join our growing team in Solihull. This entry-level role is perfect for someone eager to learn the art and science of coffee production from bean to bag. You’ll be an integral part of our production line, ensuring our high standards of quality and efficiency are met, all while working in an environment filled with the incredible aroma of freshly roasting coffee. This role requires commitment to early morning shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of green coffee beans into roasters.
  • Monitor roasting processes under the supervision of experienced roasters.
  • Support packaging and quality control operations, ensuring products meet specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the roastery and production areas.
  • Operate basic production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare coffee for grinding and assist with the grinding process.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and report any issues to supervisors.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

  • Ability to commit to early morning starts and flexible shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Good physical stamina, capable of lifting and moving heavy bags of coffee (up to 25kg).
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm for learning about coffee production.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or food-handling environment.
  • Forklift truck licence (or willingness to train).
  • Knowledge of HACCP or other food safety systems.
  • A genuine interest in coffee and its journey from farm to cup.
