Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Back of House Porter to join our team in Norwich. This crucial role supports the smooth operation of our hotel by ensuring optimal inventory management, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and providing essential logistical support. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic, contributing to a seamless experience for both our guests and colleagues. This is an on-site position vital to our daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and organize back of house storage areas, including stockrooms, linen rooms, and equipment storage.
  • Receive, verify, and stock deliveries of supplies, food, beverages, and other operational items.
  • Accurately track inventory levels and assist with regular stock counts.
  • Transport items between departments, including heavy lifting of boxes, furniture, and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all back of house areas, including loading docks, corridors, and service elevators.
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with waste management and recycling initiatives.
  • Support other departments with setup and breakdown for events or special requirements.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely (up to 25kg).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic numeracy for inventory counting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospitality or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of basic inventory management principles.
  • A full, clean UK driving license (desirable for occasional off-site errands).
