Job Description
Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and eager to contribute to a greener future? Organic North PLC is looking for dedicated Eco-Farm Pickers to join our team in Didsbury, Manchester. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and integrity of our organic produce from farm to fork. You will work outdoors in a dynamic environment, playing a direct role in harvesting and preparing fresh, sustainably grown fruits and vegetables.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully harvest a variety of organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs according to specific quality standards and picking guidelines.
- Perform initial quality checks on harvested produce, identifying and setting aside items that do not meet organic specifications.
- Package and prepare picked produce for transport, ensuring proper handling to maintain freshness and prevent damage.
- Adhere strictly to organic farming principles and food safety regulations at all times.
- Assist with basic farm maintenance tasks as needed, such as weeding, planting, or equipment cleaning.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, respecting the natural environment and farm resources.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily harvesting targets and operational goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods, in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in organic farming, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural work, gardening, or a similar outdoor physical role.
- Knowledge of organic farming practices and produce handling.
- A valid UK driving license and access to transport (due to farm location).
