Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Big Data Architect to join our dynamic team in Liverpool. This critical role involves designing, developing, and implementing scalable big data solutions using cutting-edge technologies like Hadoop and Spark. You will be instrumental in shaping our data strategy, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the robust performance and security of our big data platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect robust, scalable, and high-performance big data solutions using Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies.
- Lead the technical implementation of big data platforms, including data ingestion, processing, storage, and querying.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Provide expert guidance on big data best practices, data governance, security, and performance optimization.
- Evaluate and recommend new big data technologies and tools to enhance our capabilities.
- Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for big data architectures, designs, and operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Big Data Architect or Senior Big Data Engineer.
- Deep expertise in Hadoop ecosystem components (HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase, Kafka).
- Strong proficiency in Apache Spark (Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, PySpark/Scala).
- Experience with cloud big data services (AWS EMR/Glue/Redshift, Azure Data Factory/Databricks/Synapse, GCP Dataflow/Dataproc).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Scala, Python, or Java.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling.
- Experience with real-time data processing and stream analytics.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in relevant big data technologies or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Big Data, Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Experience with NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and MLOps practices.
- Prior experience working in a consultancy environment.
