Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Oncology Registered Nurse to join our specialized cancer care team. This is an immediate start, full-time position offering a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and palliative care. This role requires a strong understanding of oncology principles, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to supporting patients and their families through their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Monitor patients during and after treatment, identifying and managing potential side effects and complications.
- Provide comprehensive patient education regarding their diagnosis, treatment plan, medication management, and symptom control.
- Assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Offer emotional support and practical advice to patients and their families, acting as a key point of contact and advocate.
- Participate in ward rounds, team meetings, and contribute to the continuous improvement of oncology services.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, adhering to infection control policies.
Required Skills
- Current NMC registration (or eligibility to register in the UK).
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration nursing experience.
- Proven experience in an oncology setting, including chemotherapy administration.
- Up-to-date knowledge of cancer treatments, side effects, and supportive care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemotherapy administration qualification or equivalent certification.
- Experience with electronic patient record systems.
- Palliative care experience.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
