Job Description

Are you a passionate and aspiring footwear designer eager to make your mark in the athletic industry? Adidas is offering a dynamic internship opportunity for a Footwear Design Intern to join our innovative team. This role is perfect for a creative individual with a strong foundational understanding of design principles, a keen eye for detail, and a burning desire to learn within a fast-paced, world-renowned athletic brand. You will work alongside experienced designers, contributing to the conceptualization and development of cutting-edge athletic footwear.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers in all phases of the footwear design process, from concept ideation to final product development.
  • Contribute to research and trend analysis, identifying new materials, technologies, and design aesthetics relevant to athletic footwear.
  • Create sketches, technical drawings, and 3D models using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare design presentations and mood boards for internal reviews.
  • Support in the creation of material palettes and colorways.
  • Participate in design critiques, offering fresh perspectives and incorporating feedback.
  • Organize and maintain design libraries, samples, and prototypes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, marketing, and engineering teams.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong sketching and rendering skills, both hand-drawn and digital.
  • Basic understanding of 3D design software (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks, Keyshot).
  • Excellent visual communication and presentation skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of footwear construction and materials.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing creative potential and design thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Footwear Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • Previous experience or projects related to athletic footwear design.
  • Understanding of sport performance principles and consumer insights.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials.
