Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Meteorologist / Climate Scientist to join our dynamic environmental consulting team in Dagenham, Greater London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge climate research, environmental impact assessments, and climate change adaptation projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing meteorological data, developing climate models, and providing expert advice to clients across various sectors. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed meteorological and climate data analysis, including historical trends and future projections.
  • Develop and apply climate models to assess the impacts of climate change on infrastructure, ecosystems, and human activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive climate risk assessments and vulnerability studies.
  • Contribute to environmental impact assessments (EIAs) with specialized climate and meteorological expertise.
  • Provide expert advice and technical support to clients on climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies.
  • Generate high-quality scientific reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements in meteorology and climate science.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Meteorology, Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience with meteorological and climate data analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB) for climate data.
  • Strong understanding of climate modeling principles and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GIS software for spatial data analysis.
  • Familiarity with climate change policy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., UK Climate Change Act).
  • Prior experience in an environmental consultancy or research institution.
  • Knowledge of extreme weather events and their impacts.
  • Experience in scientific programming and scripting.
