Job Description
Are you a seasoned expert in home studio setups, audio engineering, video production, and content creation workflows? Do you have a knack for simplifying complex technical concepts and a passion for helping others achieve their creative vision? Patreon is seeking a Home Studio Consultant to provide remote, expert guidance and support to our diverse community of creators. This flexible role is perfect for someone who can offer tailored advice on everything from equipment selection and acoustic treatment to software optimization and live streaming best practices, all from a remote setting. You’ll be a key resource in empowering creators to produce high-quality content efficiently and effectively from their home environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one remote consultations to creators regarding their home studio setups, equipment, and production workflows.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to audio interfaces, microphones, cameras, lighting, and recording software.
- Offer personalized recommendations for hardware and software based on creator needs, budget, and content type (e.g., podcasting, music production, video streaming).
- Educate creators on best practices for audio recording, mixing, mastering, video capture, editing, and live streaming.
- Develop and deliver remote workshops or informational resources on common home studio challenges and solutions.
- Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and tools in home studio equipment and content creation.
- Document consultation details, solutions provided, and creator feedback to improve service offerings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in audio engineering, video production, or home studio consulting.
- In-depth knowledge of digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, or FL Studio.
- Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and live streaming platforms (e.g., OBS Studio, Streamlabs OBS).
- Strong understanding of microphone types, placement techniques, and acoustic treatment principles.
- Expertise in camera settings, lighting techniques, and video codecs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical individuals.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Film Production, Music Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications from major audio/video software vendors (e.g., Avid, Apple, Adobe).
- Experience working with a diverse range of creative disciplines (e.g., musicians, podcasters, visual artists, gamers).
- Familiarity with network configuration and troubleshooting for streaming applications.
- Previous experience in a remote consulting or support role.
