Job Description
Join CVS Health as a Specialty Pharmacy Technician with a focus on Oncology & Biotech. In this crucial role, you will support pharmacists in dispensing specialized medications, managing patient profiles, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of treatments for complex conditions. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient care within a fast-paced specialty pharmacy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of oncology and biotech specialty medications.
- Manage and update patient profiles, including insurance information and medication histories.
- Process prescriptions accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate medication access and address inquiries.
- Maintain inventory control and proper storage of specialty pharmaceuticals, adhering to strict handling guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality assurance standards in a sterile compounding environment (if applicable).
- Provide empathetic and professional support to patients navigating complex treatment regimens.
Required Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification, active and in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical terminology.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specialty pharmacy setting, particularly with oncology or biotech medications.
- Knowledge of sterile compounding procedures and USP <797>/<800> guidelines.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Experience with prior authorization processes for specialty drugs.
