Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Hospital Housekeeper to join our environmental services team at Brampton Civic Hospital. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout our medical facility. This position offers stable work within a supportive team, contributing directly to patient well-being and infection control. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and intensive cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, offices, and clinical spaces, adhering to established hospital protocols and infection control guidelines.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surfaces, fixtures, and equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas, including biohazard materials.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and hand sanitizer in various areas.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
- Respond promptly to emergency clean-up requests, spills, or urgent sanitation needs.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety procedures and using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of infection control principles and procedures.
- Familiarity with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
