Job Description

Are you passionate about animal welfare and looking for a fulfilling entry-level role? PDSA in Rotherham is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Trainee Kennel Hand to join our compassionate team. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily cleaning and maintenance of kennels, catteries, and animal exercise areas to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.
  • Feed and water animals according to strict dietary schedules and requirements, monitoring consumption and reporting any concerns.
  • Provide basic handling and exercise for animals, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Observe animals closely for any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes, reporting findings to senior staff.
  • Assist with the admission and discharge of animals, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Support veterinary nurses and vets with animal restraint during examinations and treatments when required.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, ensuring kennels are stocked with necessary food, bedding, and cleaning materials.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development related to animal care and welfare practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First aid knowledge (for animals or humans).
  • GCSEs or equivalent, particularly in science subjects.
