Job Description

Sarah Lawrence College seeks dynamic and experienced Adjunct Music Faculty to teach various music courses on a part-time basis. This flexible position offers the opportunity to contribute to our esteemed arts curriculum, guiding students through immersive learning experiences in music theory, history, performance, or specific instrument instruction. We are looking for passionate educators who can inspire and challenge students within our unique interdisciplinary approach to education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, or individual instruction sessions in assigned music disciplines.
  • Design and implement course syllabi, assignments, and assessments that align with college standards and learning objectives.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic progress and musical development.
  • Hold regular office hours or be available for student consultations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and college activities as required.
  • Maintain professional competence and currency in relevant fields of music.
  • Adhere to all college policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree or higher in Music or a related field (Doctorate/DMA preferred).
  • Proven experience teaching music at the college or university level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a specific area of music (e.g., theory, history, composition, instrumental performance).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.
  • Commitment to liberal arts education and an individualized approach to learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or DMA) in Music.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teaching or curriculum development.
  • Active professional performance or research profile.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms.
