Job Description

Join Swissport as an Airport Baggage Handler in Cambridge! This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient handling of passenger luggage and cargo, ensuring timely dispatch and arrival of flights. You will be an essential part of our ground operations team, working in a fast-paced airport environment. We are looking for dedicated individuals with a strong work ethic, who are reliable and can thrive in a team setting. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload baggage and cargo from aircraft, using appropriate equipment and following safety protocols.
  • Operate ground support equipment (e.g., tugs, belt loaders, baggage carts) safely and efficiently.
  • Transport baggage between aircraft, baggage claim areas, and sorting facilities.
  • Ensure all baggage is correctly sorted, tagged, and delivered to the correct aircraft or destination.
  • Adhere to strict airport security and safety regulations at all times.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment for defects and report any issues.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to meet tight deadlines and maintain flight schedules.
  • Assist with other ground handling duties as required to support airport operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy luggage (up to 32kg) repeatedly and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain an airport security clearance.
  • A valid UK driving license is required (for operating ground support equipment).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physical, fast-paced, or logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with airport operations or ground support equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
