Job Description
Are you a sharp, analytical mind with a passion for innovation and disruptive technologies? Octopus Ventures is seeking a highly motivated Venture Capital Analyst to join our dynamic team in Swansea. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to dive deep into the world of venture capital, supporting our investment team in identifying, evaluating, and executing investments in promising early-stage companies across various sectors. You will play a crucial role in our investment process, from initial market research and due diligence to portfolio management support. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive market research, industry analysis, and competitive landscaping to identify emerging trends and attractive investment opportunities.
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities by analyzing business plans, financial models, management teams, and market fit.
- Support senior investment professionals throughout the due diligence process, including financial modeling, legal review, and expert interviews.
- Prepare detailed investment memos, presentations, and reports for internal investment committee meetings.
- Assist in the monitoring and support of portfolio companies, including data analysis, strategic discussions, and tracking key performance indicators.
- Develop and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and co-investors.
- Contribute to thought leadership and content creation related to venture capital and innovation.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to represent Octopus Ventures.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated interest in technology, startups, and venture capital.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or professional experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or a high-growth startup.
- Experience with market research tools and data analysis platforms.
- Understanding of startup ecosystems and common business models.
- Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities.
