Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Virtual Civil Service Recruiter to join our dedicated team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for sourcing, attracting, and placing top-tier talent into various civil service roles across government departments. You will manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from initial candidate engagement to offer management, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers. A strong understanding of the civil service framework, compliance requirements, and public sector recruitment best practices is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for civil service roles, from requisition to onboarding.
  • Proactively source and identify suitable candidates using various channels, including job boards, social media, and professional networks.
  • Conduct thorough screening and interviewing to assess candidate qualifications, experience, and cultural fit within the civil service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with candidates and hiring managers, providing expert guidance and market insights.
  • Ensure all recruitment activities comply with public sector regulations, equal opportunities policies, and Hays' internal standards.
  • Utilize Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and CRM tools to track candidates, manage pipelines, and report on recruitment metrics.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of talent for civil service positions.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on recruitment progress to internal stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in recruitment, preferably within the public sector or civil service.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong interviewing and assessment techniques.
  • Proficiency in using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruitment software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced virtual environment.
  • In-depth understanding of UK civil service structures and recruitment processes.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent professional certification.
  • Demonstrable experience with large-scale public sector recruitment campaigns.
  • Familiarity with various government departments and their specific hiring needs.
