Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting entry-level career opportunity with immediate impact? Hydro One is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Smart Meter Installers. As a Trainee Smart Meter Installer, you will play a crucial role in modernizing Ontario’s energy infrastructure by installing and maintaining smart meters at residential and commercial properties. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a comprehensive, fully paid training and certification program to learn smart meter installation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Assist experienced technicians in the safe and efficient installation, inspection, and testing of smart meters at customer locations.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and inspections.
- Provide excellent customer service while interacting with residents and business owners.
- Utilize and maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles responsibly.
- Troubleshoot basic meter issues under supervision.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and be prepared for physical tasks.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to strict safety guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a trade or field service role (e.g., construction, electrical, plumbing).
- Customer service experience.
- Basic computer literacy.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
