Job Description

VCA Animal Hospitals in New Port Richey is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Entry-Level Vet Clinic Helper to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with no prior experience to receive comprehensive animal handling training and learn the foundational aspects of veterinary support. Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal restraint during examinations and procedures, ensuring safety and comfort for pets and staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and other clinic facilities.
- Feed, water, and walk hospitalized and boarding animals, following specific care instructions.
- Observe animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical suites, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Sterilize surgical instruments and maintain equipment.
- Provide compassionate basic care for animals, including bathing and grooming as needed.
- Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.
- Provide friendly and professional support to pet owners during check-in, check-out, and over the phone.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and a love for working with pets.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and handle animals safely.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience at an animal shelter, rescue, or clinic.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and care.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
