Job Description
Are you a motivated 16-year-old looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced retail environment? Kohl’s in Schaumburg, IL, is seeking a diligent and organized Stockroom Associate to join our team. This entry-level position is perfect for teens eager to learn about inventory management, stock organization, and contributing to the smooth operation of a busy retail store. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our sales floor is consistently stocked with the latest products, providing an excellent shopping experience for our customers. This is an excellent opportunity to develop essential workplace skills, work alongside a supportive team, and understand the behind-the-scenes magic of retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and process incoming merchandise, ensuring accurate counts and condition.
- Organize and maintain the stockroom, including shelving, bins, and racks, for optimal efficiency and safety.
- Assist with inventory control procedures, including counting, tagging, and stocking merchandise.
- Replenish sales floor with products from the stockroom as directed by store leadership.
- Help prepare merchandise for display and ensure items are correctly priced and presented.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the stockroom and back-of-house areas.
- Support team members with various store operations as needed, promoting a collaborative atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 30 lbs regularly.
- Excellent time management skills and a proactive work ethic.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Eagerness to learn about retail operations and inventory management.
- Positive attitude and a strong desire to contribute to a team.
- Previous experience in a volunteer role or school project requiring organization is a plus but not required.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic retail setting.
