Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic High School Gym Attendant to join our team in the Lincoln Park area. This part-time, on-site role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about maintaining a safe and engaging environment for students participating in athletic activities and physical education classes. The Gym Attendant will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the high school gymnasium, ensuring equipment is properly used and maintained, and providing a positive experience for all users. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor gym activities to ensure student safety and adherence to school policies.
  • Set up and take down athletic equipment for various sports and classes, including basketball hoops, volleyball nets, and other necessary gear.
  • Inspect equipment regularly for damage or wear and report any issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the gymnasium, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and organizing storage areas.
  • Provide basic first aid assistance and call for professional medical help when necessary.
  • Manage inventory of sports equipment and supplies, assisting with ordering when needed.
  • Assist students and staff with equipment usage and general inquiries.
  • Enforce rules and regulations to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move athletic equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail regarding safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of various sports and athletic activities.
  • Reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a gym, school, or recreational setting.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair of athletic equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
