Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Student Services Manager to lead our student support initiatives at our Warrington location. The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring the well-being, success, and positive experience of all students. This role involves overseeing a comprehensive range of student services, including welfare, academic advice, disability support, careers guidance, and pastoral care. You will manage a team of student support professionals, develop and implement service policies, and work collaboratively with academic departments to enhance the student journey. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the Student Services team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee the provision of student welfare, counselling, disability support, and academic guidance.
  • Develop and implement student support policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with academic staff and other university departments to deliver integrated student support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of student services, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Handle complex student cases, providing expert advice and intervention where necessary.
  • Manage budgets and resources allocated to Student Services.
  • Ensure a proactive approach to student engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Contribute to university-wide strategic planning related to student experience.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a student support or pastoral care management role within an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective student service policies.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practices in student welfare and support.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to inform service improvements.
  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Business Management).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in a related discipline.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Knowledge of higher education quality assurance frameworks.
  • Professional membership in a relevant student affairs or education body.
